Which skills are the best to list on a network engineer resume?Network engineers require a variety of technical and interpersonal skills to do their jobs well. Active listening is one of the most important skills as it is important to not only hear what clients, co-workers, and supervisors are saying but also to ask questions for clarification. Operations and systems analysis skills are also important for determining needs and how a system works as well as how changes will affect the system. Network engineers must be able to identify complex problems and review information to come up with solutions. They must also use several fonts of software, including administration software, network monitoring software, and web platform development software. Look to your network engineer resume sample to find specific ideas.2. How do you list references on a network engineer resume ?While it used to be common to include a sentence at the bottom of the resume stating that references were available upon request, interviewers no longer consider this an acceptable practice. You may notice you no longer see this on any network engineer resume sample. These days, jobseekers should not mention references in their resumes at all. Instead, create a separate document with the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of references. Carry a copy to interviews and provide it if the interviewer asks for it.3. Whats the best resume template to use for a network engineer resume?Maybe you noticed that the network engineer resume sample you came across sticks to basic black and white but still has a sleek design. This is the best type of template to use when you want to create a resume in minutes with a resume builder. Find a template that uses a bold type for your name and contact information but sticks to basics for your summary, sills, work experience, and education. This s hows you can be creative while remaining professional.4. Whats the best way to list certifications on your network engineer resume? When looking at a network engineer resume sample, you may notice certifications in one of two places the skills section or the education section. If you have certifications that are in high demand, putting them in the skills section will place them higher on your resume. If you have certifications that are relevant but perhaps not as recent or in demand, consider modifying your education section to show that it is for both education and certifications. However, it is important to only place your certifications in one section. Using both sections makes your resume look disorganized.5. What should you do to make sure your network engineer resume makes it past an ATS?Interviewers receive hundreds of resumes for network engineer positions and typically use an applicant tracking system to help them weed out people who are not good candidates by eliminating th ose without certain keywords. ATS systems also scan vertically, so using a vertical template is the best idea. You can further your chances by tailoring your resume to use the same keywords as the job description for which you are applying. A network engineer resume sample may also give you good ideas for keywords.

Nanos in the Pressure Vessel

Nanos in the Pressure Vessel Nanos in the Pressure Vessel War, global warming, gas prices such phenomena turn the fuel-craving eye toward mora plentiful sources of power, such as natural gas. Indeed, natural gas vehicles, both new and converted, are on the rise. But those who would swap gas guzzling for natural gas guzzling will need to find a new tank. The thin-walled hunks of metal that cart your unleaded wont cut it if they have to store a gas that needs to be compressed.Several years ago, 3M came up with a proprietary method of loading a thermosetting resin with 40-50% spherical, silica nanoparticles. The resin has the remarkable ability to increase stiffness without becoming brittle. The reason the toughness goes up is that those particles are very well bonded into the epoxy, says 3M lab manager Gene Portelli, If a crack tries to propagate through that resin, it has a difficult path to go through. Combined with carbon fibers, it makes for a pretty nice fishing rod. G. Loomis, St . Croix, and several other rod manufactures now produce some of the lightest, strongest, and most responsive rods the world has ever known.Compressed natural gas pressure vessels at the JEC Europe 2012 Show (formerly JEC COMPOSITES Show), held March 27-29, in Paris, France. Photo source HPC / Photo Jeff SloanLess Carbon FiberThats a nice claim to fame, but the folks at 3M thought that their resin could do more for the world than just help sportsmen more nimbly yank fish out of water. They departureed searching for other markets and soon narrowed in on pressure vessels for compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles. The tank on a CNG vehicle is one of its single most expensive components. If 3M could make a lighter, stronger, and cheaper one, they would have a good chance of capturing a sizable corner of the market. The fishing rods and other products were made of pre-pregcarbon-fiber tape impregnated with resinthat can be used to produce whatever shape. But pressure vessels are made with a filament-winding process, where carbon fibers are dipped into a resin bath, then wound right into the product, which is then cured in an oven. The resin between all those carbon fibers can transfer loads across all the carbon fibers more efficiently, says Portelli. The strength of the 3M resin meant the amount of carbon fiber could be reduced, lowering, in turn, the weight and cost of the product.More Durability3M vessels outperformed control vessels in every respect, claims the company. When pressurized to bursting, the 3M vessels proved 6-8% stronger. When put through the same test after first being deliberately damaged, they showed a 30% increase in performance. When you impact it, the resin can absorb that energy and it creates less damage, says Portelli. And when theres less damage you get a higher burst strength.During the fatigue test, in which a vessel is repeatedly pressurized and depressurized, the 3M vessels performed 50% better than the control, reaching some 12,000-od d cycles before failure. The vessels 3M produces are type 4, meaning theyre lined with plastic, which is best for keeping things light. The firmhas 25 different sizes they plan to roll out over the next few years. The first will be 21.5 X 60 inches, a size commonly found in the back of pick-up trucks. With no serious competitor on the horizon, its likely the CNG vehicle of tomorrow will come from 3M.All just because were loading at such a high level with silica, says Portelli. When you replace epoxy with silica, all those good things start to happen.Michael Abrams is an independent writer. The resin between all those carbon fibers can transfer loads across all the carbon fibers more efficiently.Gene Portelli, 3M lab manager

The Top Five MOST Annoying Buzz Phrases

The Top Five MOST Annoying Buzz Phrases A few weeks ago, Steve Boese posted an interesting question on his Facebook wall. He wanted to hear the most annoying business speak out tzu siche. Of course, everyone chimed in with his or her most hated phrase until someone (me) asked the obvious question. Steve, said I. Are you using this for blog fodder?Nope, its all yours, says Steve, who works at Oracle and has a fantastic blog you should read.So Im taking it. Its notlage scientific and I didnt take a poll, these just come from my own experience. My hope is that it will make you a better business person because people wont cringe when they speak to you. In no particular order, here are the most annoying phrases inwell, the world5. It is what it is.Well, of course it is what it is. People say this when they have no way of effecting change. They say it to shut you (me) up and they say it because its a s omehow suitably appropriate way to end a conversation. Its horrible and obvious. If you say it more than once a week, you need to read a book. Exception if you are 90 and wise.4. Think outside the box. When a fast food chain has parodied your business speak, its time to shelve it. Think outside the box has become the very thing it claims not to be. Thinking outside the box is totally in the box. Everyone urges you to think outside the box. Outside the box is incredibly crowded and not tremendously insightful anyway. I say, get back in your comfortable box and stay there, where its quiet and you can actually think.3. At the end of the day. This one was my personal selection. People say this so often it comes out like athendoftheday which of course, is complete gibberish. WHY ARE YOU SPEAKING GIBBERISH PEOPLE? I could get all existential and talk about how units of time are now more valuable that ever and to reduce them to a bumper sticker is invalidating what is our only non-renewable resource as knowledge workers, but nah.its just overused. Bonus phrase When all is said and done.2. Granular.Shut up. JUST SHUT UP. You dont understand what you are talking about. Now, some of you may hate this article and go back through my writing with a fine tooth comb, and I guarantee that you will find that I have, at times, used the word granular. But, I have reformed and you should to. When you are comparing your work to sand, you need to find a new line of work.1. Hard StopThis earns the number one spot because it inspired the thread that Boese built. Hard stop is ridiculous because people 1) rarely mean it 2) hardly ever respect it and 3) mostly use it to make it sound like they have a super important verstndigung im strafverfahren to seal but they actually have to have their dog de-wormed or something.Have an overused, tired, sad crusty old business phrase you want to share?Out with it.

Such testing is notlage usually parte of standard checkups, so make sure to ask for it.Even though these deficiencies can be subtle, they can also be prevalent for instance, most people are very low on vitamin D, which helps regulate metabolism and mood. The National Institutes of Health has prominently featured research suggesting that vitamin D deficiency is even an epidemic.Another problem fixing a suspected vitamin deficiency is not a matter of just popping a million supplements. In France, magnesium supplements are something of a mania, and pharmacies are full of them. A secret to getting enough magnesium taking baths in Epsom salts is one of the best ways to get the mineral, it travels into the body through soaking. What to eat to boost energyCertain foods can also help you feel better at work, so pack them in your lunch box. We already know that bananas have potassium and apples provide fiber for breakfast.Vitamin D is one of the easiest vitamins to find in more foods, according to Harvard, which recommends fish like salmon and tuna. The Slowpokes Guide to Working in a Fast-Paced Environment

The Slowpokes Guide to Working in a Fast-Paced EnvironmentThe Slowpokes Guide to Working in a Fast-Paced EnvironmentTime. Theres never enough of it. Even when youre on top of your to-do list, the pressure to move faster and get mora done never seems to go away. And those are the days that dont whip by.If that sounds familiar, then the chances are good that you work in a fast-paced workplace and that you are struggling to keep up with the rest of your team. Its no surprise according to Simply Hired data, last year the number of jobs described as fast-paced grew 26 percent. And as the pressures to perform faster on the job grow, many job seekers wonder what it really means to work in a fast-paced environment and how they can tweak their skills to get by a little easier and achieve a faster pace. Are you mora of a slowpoke but interested in exceeding your past performance? Heres a look at important insight into what it means to work in a fast-paced environment and to determine how to be successful once you take the job.Fast-Paced Means Less Time to ThinkEmployers describe fast-paced jobs as dynamic, deadline-driven, highly collaborative, demanding, rapidly changing and filled with high growth. Looking at these words all together, a picture of what fast-paced really means starts to come together its an environment where you often must make decisions with very little time to think them through. This might sound dangerous, especially considering the important positions that are described as fast-paced, such as lawyers, nurses, chefs, pharmacists and executives. But bedrngnis having a lot of time to think things through is only difficult when you arent sure what to do. Which is to say that its hard to perform in a fast-paced environment if you have not prepared yourself with the instincts, confidence and training to do the job well and quickly. The answer to being more successful in a fast-paced position (and to determine whether a fast-paced position is a good fit for y ou in the first place) is to take direct action to refine your instincts, build confidence and pursue more training.Improving Your Instincts, Confidence and TrainingThe legal industry indicates the biggest need for velocity with 24 percent of jobs describing themselves as fast-paced in 2015, followed by healthcare with 21 percent. Lets use those two industries as our example for how improve your performance in a fast-paced environment.Refine your instinctsDo you ever find yourself feeling confused, overwhelmed or uncertain about what to do in your workplace? Do you wish you had more time to make each decision? If you do, that means you dont have the basic instincts of the position down. You consider each instruction or scenario independent of the context of your workplace, leading you to spend more time on thinking and doubting yourself before you act. While some people are born with excellent instincts for a particular field, the rest of us need time and experience to instill those basic lessons as instincts on the job. The best solution here is to partner with an experienced veteran at your job and ask them to walk you through their decision-making process during certain times of the day.For example, if you are a new nurse and you find yourself doubting the decisions you make throughout the day, it will help you to shadow a veteran nurse and ask her questions as she makes those decisions. Over time you will understand the context for her decisions (always putting the patient first, or thinking of what the doctor would prefer in a certain situation) that help her make decisions more quickly.Build confidenceDo you make a decision and then spend a lot of time doubting if it was the right one? Do you take action but then secretly stress that youll be reprimanded or fired for it? Then you have a confidence problem and you need to go back to your roots to remind yourself that you are a highly-qualified professional. We already know that confident people find jobs qu icker and make more money. But they also function better in a fast-paced environment because they dont waste time doubting their decisions or actions. Its not necessarily that they have big egos or are always right its that they make decisions from an informed, confident place that welcomes responsibility. For example, if you are a recently graduated lawyer, you might not be 100 percent acclimated to working in a real-life law firm with fast-paced, serious decisions being made around the clock. However, you can gain confidence by breathing deep and focusing on the fact that you passed the bar and earned a degree. This deep understanding of the law will help you get used to your new environment and make quick decisions over time. You can also share your doubts with a more senior lawyer or human resources team member who can coach you through your doubts toward your best performance.Pursue trainingDo you freeze when you go to make a decision? Are you hesitant to do anything without a c lear instruction in fear of making a mistake? Then youll find a lot of relief if you pursue ongoing training in your workplace.Ongoing training is important in two ways. First, it naturally bolsters your instincts and builds confidence. The more time you spend with your industry subject matter, the easier it will be to consider tasks and requests that come up within the context of your fast-paced workplace. Second, the more training you have, the less time you will need to make a decision and follow through with it. This ultimately positions you to perform will in a fast-paced environment because you can make quick, accurate decisions. As a paralegal in a fast-paced work environment, new processes, laws and customers frequently disrupt your workday. But if you consistently pursue professional development in your field, you will be able to stay on top of these trends and network with likeminded paralegals who can help you deepen your knowledge, your instincts and your confidence, ulti mately leading you to make better decisions faster.Fast-paced work environments arent for everyone. If you invest time in refining your instincts, building confidence and pursuing more training and you still feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed in your workplace, you may need to consider a new job or new career that wont put those pressures on you. However, most people will find that focusing on these three steps will help them quickly make good decisions and experience high levels of success in fast-paced working environments.
